Veseli: November 28 contains the entire meaning of our national history
The Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Kadri Veseli, has said that November 28 is a sacred date for all Albanians, because, as he said, it contains within itself the entire meaning of our national history and the identity of a people who, over the centuries, never gave up on the dream of freedom and ultimately succeeded in making it a reality.
In his speech during the reception organized by the Albanian Embassy in Kosovo in honor of the 106th anniversary of the declaration of Albania's independence, Parliament Speaker Veseli said that in many cases history has been harsh on Albanians.
"We knew and were able to survive its storms. We knew how to preserve our name, our identity and the right vision for the future. Like never before in history, today Albanians are secure and oriented as a nation. Today Albanians are masters of their own destiny. And our destiny has only one name: integration into the great family of Western democracies," said Mayor Veseli.
He added that the Euro-Atlantic integration of Albanians is not only a geopolitical interest, but more than that: it is the natural orientation of a people, which in geography and identity has been and will remain a European people.
The head of the Assembly said that Albanians believe in Western values of human freedom, democracy and market economy.
"We want to share these values with our neighbors, whom we respect and want to be respected by them in the same way. We believe and work to make good neighborliness the identity of our region. Happy November 28 to all Albanians wherever they live and work," said the Speaker of the Parliament, Kadri Veseli.
