CEC indicates the day of the announcement of the final results for the runoff
The Central Election Commission is awaiting the certification of the results for the municipal assemblies after all complaints to the ECAP have been completed, while it has announced that the announcement of the final results from the second round for mayors in 18 municipalities will take place in ten days at the latest.
On November 9, the second round was held in Kosovo for 18 municipalities, in which there were no winners in the first round on October 12, KosovaPress reports.
In a press conference, CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi announced that after the completion of the voting and counting process, the election materials from the Voting Centers were withdrawn and sent to the Municipal Counting Centers.
"According to the Law on General Elections in local elections, the counting of votes for mayors takes place at polling stations and the results are recorded on forms, which are then published by the CEC. According to the CEC election regulations for municipal centers, in these centers the verification of the results from the forms that were filled out at the polling stations after the counting of the ballots will take place. The verification of the results has begun in all municipal counting centers, it will be done in full transparency and in the presence of observers. At this moment, the publication of the results after the verification, which is being done in the municipal counting centers, has also begun on the CEC results platform," said Elezi.
He said that on election day, in addition to organizing voting in 1.628 regular polling stations, the CEC also enabled conditional voting in 20 other polling stations, voting outside polling stations through mobile teams for voters with special needs, and voting outside Kosovo by mail.
"The counting of ballots from conditional voting, ballots from voting by persons with special needs and ballots from voting outside Kosovo will take place at the Counting and Results Center in a few days. According to preliminary data, from 20 conditional polling stations in 18 municipalities of the country, a total of 749 envelopes with ballots have been identified. These envelopes have not yet been verified. This will happen within a few days after scanning the voter list, a process that allows us to know if any of the conditional voters have also voted at their regular polling station. Regarding voting by persons with special needs, according to data from this type of voting, there are more than 1.440 citizens of various municipalities who have voted through mobile teams outside polling stations out of 2.541 who were registered. Regarding voting outside Kosovo by mail, we announce that the withdrawal of postal deliveries from 22 boxes "The postal vote outside Kosovo will be done soon. The number of voters registered to vote outside Kosovo in 18 municipalities was 29.725. We currently do not know how many of these registered voters have voted and this will become clear after the withdrawal of these packages and the verification process at the CNR are completed," said Elezi.
Furthermore, the CEC spokesperson also spoke about the timing of the certification of results for municipal assemblies and the announcement of the final results from the second round for mayors in 18 municipalities.
"Regarding the certification of the results of the municipal assemblies, on November 3, the CEC announced the final results for the municipal assemblies and initiated the right of candidates to file complaints with the ECAP. There are a considerable number of complaints with the ECAP. For the certification, the CEC will convene the review of all complaints by the ECAP and if eventually the parties will continue the appeal to the Supreme Court, because they have the right to continue in the Supreme Court. Regarding the announcement of the results of the second round, the announcement is made after the verification of the results, the counting of conditional votes, people with special needs and those outside Kosovo. When all these processes are concluded, then the CEC can announce the final result. According to the plans, we believe that within a week or ten days at the latest we can announce the final result," he said.
Elezi has announced that so far there have been no irregularities or technical problems during the verification of the results for mayors.
