Kryeziu: The CEC must speak as a constitutional authority, a private business cannot guarantee elections
Ismet Kryeziu from the Democratic Institute of Kosovo has reacted to the press release issued today by the Slovenian company that printed the ballots, which was distributed by the Central Election Commission.
Kryeziu emphasized on Facebook that the CEC should speak as a constitutional authority, with transparency and public accountability, and not through communications that aim to justify itself and transfer responsibility to a private company.
He further said that it is unacceptable to claim that a private business can guarantee the trust of the electoral process.
"The CEC should speak as a constitutional authority, with transparency and public accountability, and not through communiqués and announcements that aim to justify itself and transfer institutional responsibility and civic trust to a private company. The claim that a private business can guarantee trust in the electoral process is unacceptable. This constitutes a serious institutional error, increases distrust in the process and shows a serious lack of professionalism," Kryeziu wrote.
