This is how many times you have to smoke a cigarette to become addicted to it
Inhaling a puff of cigarette smoke is enough to become addicted to cigarettes, a new study has found.
More than two-thirds of people who try smoking for the first time go on to become daily smokers.
Smoking habits were analyzed in 215 people by a team from Queen Mary, University of London, using global databases. Indeksonline.
They found that 60 percent of them had tried at least one cigarette, of which 3 percent had subsequently gone on to become daily smokers.
Lead researcher Peter Hajek, a psychologist at the University of Mary, said: "This is the first time that the attitude that you can become addicted to cigarettes has been documented in a large data set, with just one cigarette.
However, they have managed to see an improvement in teenagers' smoking habits. According to them, only 19 percent of young people aged 11-15 years old were observed to smoke cigarettes, compared to 2011 percent of teenagers under the age of 40 in 16.Indeksonline/
