This is the fastest plane in the world

When it comes to fast jets, most people immediately think of the Concorde, the symbol of luxury and speed in civilian transportation. But the fastest plane to ever fly carried not passengers, but military secrets. It was the SR-71 Blackbird, a technological marvel built by the American company Lockheed in 1964. With its futuristic, black appearance and aerodynamic lines, it became an icon of the US Air Force during the Cold War.

Built with special titanium parts secretly imported from the Soviet Union, the SR-71 was designed to withstand the extreme temperatures created at Mach 3, three times the speed of sound. Thanks to this technology, on July 28, 1976, it reached 3.529 kilometers per hour, setting the American altitude record at 25.929 meters. Two years earlier, it had flown the New York-London route in just 1 hour and 54 minutes, much faster than Concorde, writes A2 CNN.

This speed made it practically invulnerable: to escape missiles, it was enough to add gas. Of the 32 units built, 19 were lost in technical incidents, but none crashed in combat. After military service, NASA used it for scientific research, atmospheric studies and testing of materials in extreme conditions. Although today it is a museum, the SR-71 Blackbird remains a symbol of an era when technology flew faster than imagination.
