This is the most downloaded app in Europe in 2025
For the first time, an artificial intelligence app has topped the list of downloads in Europe. It is ChatGPT, which by 2025 will have been downloaded about 64 million times, according to data from the firm AppFigures, reported by Euronews. This indicator shows that artificial intelligence is transforming from a “tech toy” into a tool used every day for writing, summarizing, translating or simply working faster.
After ChatGPT, the most used apps are Temu (online shopping platform), Vinted (second-hand shopping app), Lidl Plus (a German discount store app), and the social networks TikTok and Instagram. All of these apps are relatively simple and often free, and are automatically used by users, whether to make purchases or simply to browse.
Application usage and earnings
The ranking of the most profitable apps is somewhat different. TikTok leads with a projected revenue of 740 million euros in 2025, while ChatGPT ranks second thanks to its subscriptions. Dating apps are also among the most profitable, albinfo.ch reports.
This data shows that, while most people use apps to simplify their lives and save time, the most profitable apps are precisely those that require the most time from users. In simple terms: usefulness drives downloads, but attention remains the main force of the digital economy.
