Toto Wolff in talks to sell Mercedes F1 stake
Toto Wolff is in talks to sell part of his stake in the Mercedes F1 team, Sky Sports News reports.
Wolff currently owns a third of Mercedes F1's shares and is in advanced talks to sell around five percent of them, according to sources. After the deal, he is expected to hold around 28 percent of the shares.
However, the 53-year-old will continue to hold the position of team principal and CEO of Mercedes, even if the sale is finalized.
The potential deal values the Formula 1 team at £4.6 billion.
"We will not comment on this matter. The team's management structure will remain unchanged and all three partners [Mercedes-Benz, Toto Wolff and INEOS] remain fully committed to the continued success of Mercedes-Benz in Formula 1," Mercedes said in an official statement.
This deal would represent a significant increase in the team's value since 2022, when Sir Jim Ratcliffe's company INEOS bought its share for £208 million.
Mercedes currently sits in second place in the constructors' standings, behind reigning champions McLaren, with three races remaining until the end of the 2025 season.
British driver George Russell has won two of the 21 races this season and is fourth in the drivers' championship, behind McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, as well as Red Bull's Max Verstappen.
Mercedes won a record eight consecutive constructors' titles and seven drivers' world championship titles between 2014 and 2021 — six for Lewis Hamilton and one for Nico Rosberg.Indeksonline
