Trump: NATO exists because of me

US President Donald Trump recently stated that there is no individual, including other presidents, who has contributed more to NATO than he has.

"If I hadn't shown up, NATO wouldn't exist now! It would have ended up in the ashes of history. Sad, but true," he wrote on Truth Social.

The American leader's statement comes as the president continues to emphasize his role in strengthening the transatlantic alliance's relations during his presidential term.

Meanwhile, Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General, has stated in an interview about the recent tension between Donald Trump and Europe.

"I can't promise that the US will stay in NATO. No one can," Stoltenberg, who currently serves as Norway's finance minister, told German magazine Der Spiegel.

Otherwise, the United States of America is one of the founding and most important members of NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization).
