Vegans are shocked to learn that meat fat is present in banknotes
An online video about an ingredient in banknotes has caused widespread outrage.
Fat, an animal byproduct, is present on banknotes of several countries, including Australia.
'Project Nightfall' posted a three-minute video on Facebook last Saturday to reveal that the currency of at least 23 countries is made from solid fatty substances derived from animals, which is also used to make soap and candles.
In shocking news for vegans, Australia, Canada, the UK, Malaysia and Singapore are among the countries using fat to make their banknotes look shiny, according to the video.
'This video is not friendly to vegans, Muslims, Hindus or Jews,' the video begins.
'Fat can essentially only be extracted from pork, beef or lamb fat,' the video continues.
The video has attracted more than 604,000 views on Facebook. /IndeksOnline/
