Vienna named the friendliest city in Europe by Condé Nast Traveller
Vienna, the city where hospitality meets baroque elegance
Every year, the renowned British travel magazine "Condé Nast Traveller" gives its readers the opportunity to vote for the most favorite destinations in the world. In the "Readers' Choice Awards 2025" edition, where over 180 thousand readers participated, Vienna achieved a triple success, taking three places on the podium in different categories, writes albinfo.at.
In the “Friendliest Cities” category, Vienna has been declared the friendliest city in Europe, leaving behind cities such as Florence, San Sebastian, Reykjavik and Lisbon. The top ten is completed by Copenhagen, Oslo, Porto, Madrid and Prague.
In the world ranking, the Austrian capital ranks second, just behind Quito in Ecuador, and ahead of Cape Town. They are followed by Singapore, Florence, Melbourne, Sydney, Lisbon, Edinburgh and Kyoto.
Even in the “Best Cities” rating, Vienna has taken a high position: third place in Europe, after Valletta and Oslo. It is followed by Copenhagen, Madrid, Munich, Lisbon, Stockholm, San Sebastian and Palma. On a global scale, Vienna has managed to position itself in ninth place.
“The Viennese are known for a special 'grant', a kind of humor and strong charm that our readers seem to have enjoyed,” said Norbert Kettner, director of Vienna Tourism.
“Condé Nast Traveller readers describe Vienna as a green city, full of friendly faces who welcome you with warmth. The combination of Baroque architecture and café culture reflects the very spirit of the Viennese – a beautiful compliment that makes us extremely happy,” he added.
