YouTube has deleted 50 children's channels with inappropriate content

Characters like Spiderman and Elsa from the movie Frozen have been viewed millions of times where they are shown shooting guns.

YouTube has increased efforts to eliminate videos for children that contained violent and sexual content after numerous criticisms came towards the company.

The world's most popular video platform eliminated at least 50 user channels last week and blocked ads on 3.5 million videos.

YouTube is one of Google's fastest-growing operations. However, parents, regulators, advertisers and law enforcement agencies have raised concerns about the open nature of the service.

They have asked Google to do more to block and ban videos inappropriate for children.

The first reports came two weeks ago that showed this dark side of YouTube. The company relies on user requests, a panel of experts and algorithms to moderate content.

Characters like Spiderman and Elsa from the movie Frozen have been viewed millions of times where they are shown shooting guns.

But there are videos that have not been reported and continue to carry ads. Such content is automatically blocked in the YouTube Kids app.

They cannot be seen even if children log in through the website only if they are logged in with an adult account.

However, according to the New York Times, there have been cases where such videos have "slipped" and been published on the children's website and app.
