Zelensky: Russia may launch a front against another country before the war in Ukraine ends

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has recently raised the alarm about the possibility that Russia could even launch aggression against another European country before its war against Ukraine is over.

In an interview with The Guardian, published on Sunday, Zelensky said Putin could do this.

"I believe so. He can do that. We need to give up the skepticism that Putin will invade Ukraine and then he can go somewhere else. He can do both at the same time."

Zelensky suggested that the Kremlin is waging a “hybrid war against Europe” and testing NATO’s limits. He linked the rise in malign activity in Europe, such as the use of drones over Poland and later over the airports of Copenhagen, Munich and Brussels, to Russia’s failures on the battlefield.

"Putin is in a stalemate, without achieving real success. These failures may push him to seek other territories. We are defending ourselves," Zelensky said.

He stressed that Russia, as a large and aggressive state, needs an external enemy to maintain internal unity and that Putin sees the United States and the West as his adversaries. “Ukraine is much closer to the United States than Russia,” he stressed.

According to Zelensky, in Pokrovsk, Russia has deployed 170,000 troops and the fighting in Donetsk has become fiercer. “There is no Russian success there and many casualties,” he added, noting that in October Russian losses amounted to 25,000 killed and wounded.

Ukraine and the EU are also preparing the 20th package of sanctions, proposing to add Russian individuals and companies that benefit from energy resources.
