Do you sleep on your stomach? This is very bad for your health!

Some of the most serious chronic problems such as heartburn and back pain can be caused by the wrong way of sleeping.

Since sleep takes a lot of time, we need to reconsider some of our sleep habits, KosovaPressi reports.

Here's why you should never sleep on your stomach:

Causes heartburn

Sleeping on your stomach can cause a problem called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or at least make it worse.

This happens when acid and stomach contents reach the esophagus. A valve that prevents acid from returning from the stomach area cannot control the reflux due to gravity in these positions, and stomach contents reach the end of the esophagus, causing pain, a sour taste in the mouth, shortness of breath, and sometimes even chest pain.

It's bad for your back.

According to experts, this sleeping position is associated with chronic back pain. The pressure on the back at night is great in this position. The spine is not placed in a natural position and sometimes you can feel pain.

Can cause chronic neck problems

It is impossible to breathe properly while sleeping on your stomach unless you turn your neck to the side. Therefore, this sleeping position can lead to the development of chronic neck problems, such as herniated discs.

Causes wrinkles on the face

Sleeping on one side of your face on a pillow is inevitable when sleeping on your stomach. Studies have shown that this is the worst thing you can do to your face, as the pressure can cause wrinkles on your face over time.

It puts unnecessary pressure on your chest.

If you want to have healthy breasts, you should not sleep on your stomach. Doing so creates unnecessary pressure and in some cases can cause pain. Try sleeping on your back, as this will help you relax your breasts, without putting pressure on your chest.
