Agim Veliu: Without defining the President's position, there will be no agreement with Vetëvendosje

LDK Vice-President Agim Veliu said that without defining the position of the President, there will be no agreement with Vetevendosje on building a Government. He said that any postponement of the issue of defining the position of the Head of State would then endanger the coalition.

"Everyone's opinion and disposition is to define all the responsibilities we have with Vetëvendosje in the coalition, now and not later. Because anything that is left for discussion later endangers the coalition in its further work," Veliu said in an interview with Express on Sunday.

A day ago, LDK MP Fatmir Rexhepi called for an agreement to be reached on the Government, while saying that the President should be left for later. Rexhepi stated that even in the highest party body he said that there is no other alternative than an agreement with Vetëvendosje.

Agim Veliu sees this stance of Rexhepi within the framework of democracy and freedom of thought in LDK.

"We are not lacking in the will to meet with the Vetëvendosje Movement and further harmonize our program," Veliu said.

The mayor of Podujeva hopes that by Thursday they will reach an agreement with Vetëvendosje and that the minority votes in favor of the government coalition will be defined.

"It is not just the issue of the president that we are discussing with Vetëvendosje. The current coalition of LDK-VV talks only has 57 votes. We have no information about what Mr. Kurti has done with the votes of the Serbian minorities," Veliu said.

The VV leader said that he has secured the votes of non-Serb minorities, who will vote for the Government without any conditions.

Vetëvendosje is expected to be in the government for the first time, and has made promises to improve education, healthcare, diplomacy, and the economy.

The date for the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly has been set for Thursday. So far, 25 days have passed since the elections were certified, while more than two and a half months have passed since the elections were held.
