World Lupus Day
May 10 worldwide is the World Awareness Day for the skin disease "Lupus".
Lupus is a chronic inflammatory disease in which the body's immune system attacks organs and tissues. The inflammation caused by lupus can affect various body systems including the skin, kidneys, blood cells, brain, heart, and lungs.
Lupus affects the kidneys and is a serious disorder that can have a profound impact on people's lives, reports KP. It can be difficult to diagnose because its signs and symptoms are often similar to those of other diseases. The most recognizable sign of lupus is a skin rash that resembles the wings of a pheasant.
One in five women test positive for antibodies linked to lupus, but only 10 percent of them are diagnosed with the disease. By learning more about the kidneys, we can also understand the cause and how the disease develops.
Although very few people have heard of this disease, worldwide Lupus is more common than multiple sclerosis or leukemia. Lupus is not contagious, it is a disorder of the body's immune system. Although 90% of those who suffer from this disease are women between the ages of 15-45, this disease also includes men and children.
