The day the indictment of Elvis Presley's personal doctor began

George Konstantine Nikopolos, the Greek-American known as "Doctor Nick", Elvis Presley's personal physician, on December 19, 1979, is accused of giving the great singer overdoses of amphetamines, tranquilizers, sleeping pills and hormones in the period before his death.

Dr. Nick denied the charges, saying he had tried to help Elvis break free from his drug addiction.

The jury also reached this conclusion, and Dr. Nick was acquitted of murder charges, but his right to practice medicine was temporarily revoked.
