Enver Hoxhaj reveals behind the scenes why it was up to Thaçi to declare Kosovo's independence

Democratic Party of Kosovo MP, Enver Hoxhaj, has shared details from the day Kosovo was declared a sovereign and independent state.

Hoxhaj emphasized that until the last hours it had been decided to call a session for the declaration of independence and that everything had been done in full coordination with international factors.

"It has been decided that a specific session will not be called until the last hours. Communication has been made with UNMIK, the American Office in Kosovo, the Germans and the British, so that everything is coordinated," Hoxhaj said on Kanal10. 

According to him, the key role at that moment fell to the then leader of the PDK, Hashim Thaçi.

"Hashim was the one who, as someone who won the elections, was our clarity in those situations, as was seen in the moments of reading the declaration," said Hoxhaj, referring to the act of declaring independence in the Kosovo Assembly.
