Two cousins were secretly murdered/ Appeals court decides on Jon Hoti's case
The Court of Appeal has decided not to reduce the sentence for Jon Hoti, accused of the double murder in Klina, rejecting the defense's appeal as unfounded.
Hoti was sentenced to 24 years and 6 months in prison by the Basic Court in Peja for the murder of Albison and Rexhep Shlivova.
Hoti, who pleaded guilty in the penultimate hearing, killed two cousins in November 2024, according to reports. IndeksOnline.
"According to the indictment, on November 13, 2024, the defendant intentionally and with a firearm deprived the victims, R.SH and A.SH, of their lives in Klina at around 14:11 p.m., endangering the lives of other people who were present in the bar where the double murder had occurred, in such a way that the defendant first searched the victims' homes, and then contacted the victims through the social network Facebook and arranged to meet them at a bar in the center of Klina and after a few minutes of conversation with the two victims with whom he was sitting at the same table, the defendant JH stood up and, with his back to the victims, took out his gun from his jacket and started shooting at the victims, at which point the brother of the victim R.SH, the witness E.SH, jumped on the defendant's gun, preventing him from shooting further, and at that moment the defendant's gun fell to the floor, while "After the defendant JH leaves the scene, as a result of the gunshots, the victim A.SH dies at the scene, while the victim R.SH is sent without signs of life to the Peja Regional Hospital," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
Hoti was accused of having committed the criminal offense of "Aggravated Murder", under Article 173, paragraph 1, points 1.5 and 1.11 of the Criminal Code and "Unauthorized Ownership, Control or Possession of Weapons" under Article 366, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
