Kosovar deported from Switzerland, despite having 5 children there!

A Kosovar living in the canton of St. Gallen has been deported from Switzerland following a decision by the Federal Court.

His wife, who has Kosovar roots, and his five children have Swiss passports.

But delinquency, social security benefits, and debts have weighed against extending the residence permit in the Swiss state.

He first entered Switzerland in 2000 at the age of 13, where his parents had applied for asylum, which was rejected.

However, the family had received prior approval.

He was banned from entering Switzerland since 2008, but he had managed to enter the country illegally several times, and even married a Swiss woman in 2011.

Based on family reunification, he entered Switzerland in the fall of 2011, where he was warned under the Aliens Act and asked to behave in accordance with the law and find a useful job. Otherwise, his residence permit would be revoked.

From the beginning, he had been receiving social assistance. However, his residence permit was extended from 2012 to 2014, during which time he had also received several traffic violations.

The Kosovar was not comfortable and his debts reached nearly 30 thousand francs at the end of 2017.

After another punitive order in October 2015, the Migration Office in St. Gallen decided that the Kosovar's residence permit should not be extended, even though he had five children.

Referring to the close relationship with his children, the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the right to a family life, the man complained that their interests had not been properly weighed. However, how the Federal Supreme Court has now concluded that the applicant's guilt was as a result of his dependence on social welfare is considerable.
