CEC begins verification of applications, over 75% of applicants abroad have been notified by phone

The Central Election Commission has informed all applicants who have applied to register as voters abroad that it has started the process of their verification by contacting them by phone.

According to the announcement of the CEC, more than 75 percent of the applicants who have been contacted so far have been notified by phone.

"The CEC is contacting the applicants by phone and out of about 2000 people contacted, in the first calls made, over 75% of the applicants were notified by phone and their applications were confirmed", the announcement states.

The CEC will continue to contact applicants again to enable verification of their application.

The Central Election Commission has closed the deadline for the application of political entities and the submission of candidate lists for deputies who want to participate in the early parliamentary elections on February 14, 2021.

The spokesperson of the CEC, Valmir Elezi, announced that during the reserved time, the list of candidates and the list of candidates were submitted for application and certification, in total: 28 political entities, of which: 21 political parties; 2 coalitions; and 5 civic initiatives.

Elezi announced that the total number of candidates of these political entities is 1 candidates.

"During the deadline set by the Central Election Commission, January 8 - January 16, a total of: 28 political entities, of which: 21 political parties, submitted the application for certification and the list of candidates; 2 coalitions; and 5 civic initiatives. No independent candidate has been nominated. The total number of candidates of these political subjects is 1 candidates", said Elezi.

The Democratic League of Kosovo has submitted to the Central Election Commission the list of candidates for deputies for the early elections which will be held on February 14.

This list was submitted by the acting Minister of Infrastructure, Arban Abrashi, who said that no matter how tough this race will be, he believes that LDK will be the winner.

"I believe it is the best list in this election race. The list is led by the current prime minister and the future prime minister, Avdullah Hoti. Although it will be a tough race, LDK will emerge victorious in this race. We have a verification process by the CEC, so we will wait for that as well, then we will present the candidates", said Abrashi.

The lists of candidates have already been announced for some of the political parties.
