Major crisis in the US, millions of Americans unemployed

More than 3 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits last week after being laid off due to the pandemic, down from 6.6 million the week before.

The Ministry of Labor has announced that there are already about 33 million unemployed due to Covid-19, a figure that was reached in just four weeks.

These statistics show the great blow that the pandemic has given to the economy of the most affected country.

"The fact that millions of people have filed for benefits in just four weeks shows that the labor market has entered a traumatic period," said Lydia Boussour, a senior economist at Oxford Economics in New York.

Economists, according to Reuters, believe the US economy is in recession and will record the biggest decline since World War II.
