Norwegian Prime Minister: Both Kosovo and Serbia benefit from normalizing relations

Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg said that Serbia and Kosovo would benefit greatly from the normalization of relations.

She believes that the current situation creates instability in the region and sets both countries back.

Solberg, who is visiting Belgrade tomorrow, told the Serbian newspaper 'Politika' that a sustainable solution for Kosovo would ensure a better standard of living and opportunities for the citizens of both states. "Of course, the obligations undertaken must be fulfilled, but some of them are interpreted differently in Serbia and Kosovo, so it is important to continue the negotiations under the auspices of the European Union," she said.

Solberg believes that the model of cooperation that was created by the Scandinavian countries after World War II is also possible in the Balkans, while recalling that the cooperation began with the establishment of the Scandinavian labor market, avoiding topics from the so-called high politics and conflicts from the past. "We focused our attention on improving the lives of our nations in the future, which was a recipe for the success of Scandinavian cooperation and I think it would be effective in the Balkans as well," says the Norwegian Prime Minister.
