Italian Sports Minister: We hope training will start on May 18

Italy's sports minister, Vincenzo Spadafora, hopes that group training can resume on May 18.

Government representatives have so far been negative about the idea of Serie A continuing. But the Bundesliga's decision to continue has apparently opened the door for other championships. "The meeting between the Italian Federation and the medical committee has ended.

"The proposed protocol for returning to training was analyzed at the meeting," Spadafora said in a video on Facebook.

"We hope that group training can continue on May 18. I know there has been an extensive discussion with many requests from doctors. The committee will now draft its assessment and formally submit it to the Minister of Health. Immediately after that, the minister will make it known to everyone. I hope that the problems have been resolved and that we can return on May 18, if this is in accordance with the state of the pandemic in the next 10 days. I hope that the training will start not only for football but for all disciplines".

In fact, some Serie A clubs have opened the doors of training complexes for individual training of players. The condition is that players maintain social distance. But there is no decision on the start of group exercises.
