Over 300 cases of breast cancer have been registered at the Oncology Clinic this year, 3 of them are men.
With the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, calls have increased for all girls and women to take extra care and get medical checkups to prevent this disease.
Early diagnosis, according to the Director of Oncology, Ilir Kurtishi, makes treatment easier.
"Fortunately, most of these are diagnosed, over 50 percent in the first and second stages of the disease, which makes the treatment of this disease easier and more successful," Kurtishi emphasized.
Statistics show that 1 in 8 women are affected by breast cancer. Therefore, information and awareness about checks are vital. The data recorded this year do not differ much from those of the previous year.
"It is a good sign that this year, for 9 months, we have registered about 320-330 cases of breast cancer, of which 3 are men, this number is the same as in 2024 and following this trend, we think that the end of this year will find Kosovo with the same figures, so that the figure of 450-460 patients who have this disease for the first time will not be exceeded," said Kurtishi.
Breast cancer remains a serious health challenge for women around the world. The campaign throughout October aims to raise awareness and sensitize citizens that with self-examination and regular check-ups they can take the first step towards saving lives./RTK
