52.2 million iPhones sold in three months

Apple plans to double its dividend to $100 billion after strong iPhone sales helped the company's profits rise 16 percent to $61 billion.

The company said it had sold 52.2 million iPhones in the first three months of this year, just below expectations, despite falling global demand for smartphones.

Revenue from the company's services, which includes Apple Music and the Appstore, rose by almost a third to $9.1 billion, albinfo.ch reports.

Shares in the stock market, meanwhile, rose 3 percent after the closing of the three-month balance sheet. The plan to increase the dividend fund has caused the shares to rise, but overall, the first quarter of this year has been impressive, analysts say. According to them, it seems that on every front, Apple has scored victories.

Overall, Apple reported a 3 percent increase in the number of phones sold, while revenue from phones increased by 14 percent, reflecting the more expensive models.

Some analysts had questioned whether demand for the more expensive iPhone would be enough, but their doubts have now been put to rest. Apple says the iPhone X was the best-selling model in every week of the first quarter, despite its nearly $1 price tag.

Now, the company plans to launch new models on the market, and the innovations will be announced at the annual manufacturers' conference next month.
