Online media monitoring report published

The "Çohu" organization published a report on the monitoring of online media, in which it was stated that there were suspicions of violations of the Kosovo Written Media Code.

At this conference, it was stated that the purpose of this report is to identify violations of journalistic ethics by Kosovo's online media, which were monitored from May 1 to April 30, 2019.

The aim of this action is to raise awareness and engage citizens to send complaints to the Kosovo Press Council (KPK) even in cases where they are not directly involved or mentioned in media reports.

According to this report, a total of 8 online media outlets were monitored and the articles published by them were monitored on a daily basis.

The report shows that there are various violations of the Kosovo Press Code. Some of these are portals that mostly report on a specific municipality or region in Kosovo.

It was also said that an online medium in Serbian was also monitored.

Also, from the monitoring of articles for the period May 2018 to April 2019, a total of 92 articles were identified, in which there were suspicions of violations of the chapters of the Kosovo Press Code, and of these 92 complaints, the PCKK approved 41 of them.

Further in this report it is stated that the biggest violations of the Kosovo Press Code are in Chapter 2, which deals with the reporting of truth.

There are also violations in Chapter 7, which deals with privacy. There are also violations in Chapter 10.

It should be noted that since the sending of articles due to suspicion of violating the code of ethics began, media outlets that have been under monitoring have been observed to be more careful in their reporting.

Monitoring of the portals is continuing and will be completed in April 2020, when the final report will be drafted.
