Friday, 22 January 2021 13:1647 candidates for MPs cannot be part of political party lists for the February 14 elections after they were found guilty of criminal offenses by a final court decision in the last three years.
The French Embassy in Kosovo has made a statement about this, saying that they expect certification procedures to be determined by law and that independent institutions will carry out their work without interference.
The French Embassy expects Kosovo institutions to ensure the organization of credible elections.
"We expect Kosovo institutions to ensure the organization of credible, inclusive and transparent elections, conducted in accordance with international standards. Pre-election procedures, including the certification of candidates, are still ongoing. These procedures are determined by law and include the possibility of appeal. It is important that independent institutions and relevant judicial bodies are able to carry out their work without interference," the embassy's response states.
