Regional Summit in Sarajevo, will Kosovo participate?

Five European Union Social Democratic MEPs, namely Vice-President Tanja Fajon, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Knut Fleckenstein, Europe Rapporteur for Bosnia and Herzegovina Demetris Papadakis, MEP and President of the European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity Jend Nilsson, as well as PES President Sergei Stanishev are expected to participate in a series of meetings on the Western Balkans to be held in Sarajevo on 17 and 18 November.

In this context, the deputies will meet with their colleagues and exchange views with party leaders who will participate in the Regional Summit organized by the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it reports. Indeksonline.

"This is a timely gathering that will provide an opportunity to discuss the political situation in the Western Balkan countries and the European integration of the region. Bulgaria, followed by Austria, will take over the presidency of the Council of the EU in 2018 and the European integration of the region is a good chance to return to the EU agenda. WE must join efforts with our Western Balkan partners to bring forward the necessary progressive reforms, to achieve social and economic progress and to better explain to our citizens the benefits of EU enlargement," Fleckenstein said.

According to this announcement, the Prime Minister of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev; the leader of the Democratic Party of Serbia, Dragan Sutanovac, and the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Niksic, will be present in Sarajevo.
