Strategic meeting in the US, Kosovo prepares for new military procurements with American assistance

The Acting Minister of Defense of Kosovo, Ejup Maqedonci, held an important meeting with the Director of the Agency for Defense and Security Cooperation of the US Department of Defense, Michael F. Miller, within the framework of the international defense fair "AUSA 2025".

Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Commander of the KSF, Major General Enver Cikaqi, the Kosovo Defense Attaché to the US, Sylejman Cakaj, and the Director of the Department for International Cooperation and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Colonel Ahmet Ajeti.

The focus of the meeting was on bilateral cooperation and strategic procurement.

"During the meeting, there was a wide discussion on the cooperation so far in the field of defense, especially in the procurement of equipment and weapons systems through the FMS (Foreign Military Sales) mechanism, which was assessed as an efficient model with visible benefits for Kosovo. This mechanism has enabled state-to-state purchases with the US, at lower cost and higher quality of the procured products," it was emphasized during the meeting.

Another topic of discussion was the upcoming procurements that are expected to be carried out for the needs of the KSF, as well as the assistance that Kosovo has offered to Ukraine as part of international efforts to support this country at war.

American Director Michael F. Miller congratulated Kosovo on signing the Communication Interoperability and Security Agreement (CISMOA), which according to him constitutes an essential step towards deepening cooperation in the field of security.
