Turkey: Little Ahmeti, whose therapy was interrupted by Erdogan's government, passes away

Ahmet Burhan Ataç, 8 years old, passed away yesterday. He had been battling bone cancer for more than two years. The Turkish government led by Erdogan knowingly prevented his therapy in Germany, which according to doctors was the last chance to improve little Ahmet's health.

Ahmeti's father has been in prison for two years now as part of Erdogan's witch hunt against the Gülen movement. His mother has also been charged with participating in the movement, and the court has banned her from leaving the country. As a result of this ban, Ahmeti's mother was unable to travel in time to a German hospital, where she had received a positive opinion regarding therapy.

Despite thousands of requests from the mother, public pressure, and doctors' warnings that he was no longer responding to therapy and that he could be saved with therapy in a German hospital, the Turkish government has long refused to allow the little boy's mother to leave the country, which ultimately ended the last hope for treatment for Ahmeti, who lost his life in the early hours of this morning.

The Turkish government also refused to allow Ahmeti's father to visit. Doctors have repeatedly warned that there is a chance that Ahmeti's situation will improve if he is given the opportunity to see his father more often. Ahmeti's mother also announced through her Twitter status that Ahmeti will not be able to resist without seeing his father.

Unfortunately, Ahmeti's father did not even have the opportunity to be with his son in the last moments of his life. He received the bitter news in his prison cell.
