Von der Leyen presents principles on which Europe will secure the Arctic
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has presented 5 principles, in addition to the basic one, to support security in the Arctic.
Von der Leyen said it is up to sovereign peoples to decide for themselves – about their future, reports IndeksOnline.
Von der Leyen's five principles include full solidarity with Greenland, increased investment there, and cooperation with partners.
“Principle 1: Full solidarity with Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark.
Principle 2: Increase European investment in Greenland.
Principle 3: A European icebreaker: Cooperation with partners for a broader security capacity in the Arctic.
Principle 4: Strengthening security partnerships (United Kingdom, Canada, Norway and Iceland).
