Von der Leyen from Munich: Do not accept the Russian narrative, Putin's objectives in Ukraine have failed

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said it is "extremely important that we do not accept the Russian narrative" about Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.

"If we look at Putin's strategic and military goals, they have completely failed," she declared.

"He wanted to 'Russify' Ukraine, but Ukraine has become European. He wanted to stop NATO, but NATO has expanded," the European official continued, Oranews writes, KosovaPress reports.

Von der Leyen stressed that the war is approaching four years, although Putin aimed to invade Ukraine "within days or weeks."

"It is very important that we, for our part, tell the truth about what is happening in Russia with the war economy, with high interest rates and inflation, completely isolated," she added.

"It is vital to advance the negotiations and put pressure on Putin," the EC President asserted.

Meanwhile, world leaders are gathering in Munich, where the war in Ukraine, tensions with China and a possible nuclear deal between Iran and the US are on the agenda.
