Xi responds to European Commission fine – bans him from advertising

Xi has blocked the European Commission from advertising on this social network.

This decision comes a few days after the Commission fined Elon Musk's company 120 million euros due to its blue signs.

Nikita Bier, who has a senior role at the social media site, accused the European Union regulator of trying to "take advantage" of "an exploit" in its advertising system to promote her post about the fine on Friday.

A European Commission spokesperson told the BBC that the Commission "always uses all social media platforms in good faith".

X's fine, issued on Friday, was the first under the EU's Digital Services Act.

The EU regulator said the platform's blue check system was "fraudulent" because the firm was not "meaningfully verifying users".
