Thomas Markle and his daughter Meghan Markle, the wife of England's Prince Harry, haven't spoken in years. Their relationship soured shortly before Meghan married Harry.

A strong exchange of messages between the couple and the 75-year-old has recently been revealed.

The British 'Mail On Sunday' has published several extracts of a letter and messages dating back to before the couple's wedding on May 19, 2018.

Harry had written to his future father-in-law in a stern tone, "Tom, it's Harry again! I really need to talk to you. Trust me Tom, only we can help you. Meg and I aren't upset, we just want to talk to you. If you talk to the media, you'll regret it."

For his part, Thomas responded, "I haven't done anything to make you feel bad. I'm sorry my stroke caused you problems."

The messages were followed by a long silence that still lasts, even though Thomas Markle has not stopped making harsh accusations against the girl, especially after the birth of his grandson Archie and after the couple's decision to leave the royal family.

Meghan's father will be called to testify in the couple's trial against a British tabloid, accused of violating their privacy by publishing a personal letter.
