He wakes up from a coma to discover that his entire family is dead.

A 19-year-old man who survived a New Zealand volcano eruption woke up from a coma to discover his entire family had been killed in the natural disaster.

Jesse Langford suffered burns to 90% of his body from the White Island volcano eruption and is currently in a Sydney hospital.

His parents Kristine, 45, and Anthony, 51, died in the explosion, while his sister Winona, 17, is presumed dead because her body has not yet been found. 

According to New Zealand police, it is likely that her body will never be found.

The family was visiting the island as part of an Ovation Of The Seas day tour when the tragedy occurred.
